Loftsails Spark IV C50 RDM is designed for recreational windsurfers looking for a durable mast with good response and predictable behaviour. It is well suited to general freeride sailing, regular sessions and developing skills on the water.

50% T700 carbon construction
The mast is made with 50% T700 carbon fibre. This carbon content offers a useful balance between responsiveness, weight and resistance to everyday sailing loads.
Compared with full-carbon performance masts, the Spark IV has a slightly more forgiving character and a more robust construction. At the same time, it provides enough reflex to support efficient sail handling, acceleration and stable power delivery during freeride sailing.
Pre-preg production technology
Loftsails uses a pre-preg construction process, in which the fibres are pre-impregnated with a controlled amount of resin before the mast is formed.
This method produces a more consistent laminate than traditional wet layup processes. It helps maintain uniform material distribution, predictable flex and good structural durability without unnecessary excess resin.
Constant Curve bend profile
Loftsails Spark IV C50 RDM features a Constant Curve bend profile, with 64% base flex and 76% top flex. This characteristic is designed to work correctly with compatible Loftsails sails and other windsurfing sails requiring a similar bend curve.
The correct mast bend helps the sail maintain its intended draft position, twist and tuning range. Every mast is checked and controlled during production to ensure consistent behaviour between individual units.
Durable and forgiving RDM construction
The reduced RDM diameter makes the mast easier to grip during waterstarts and manoeuvres. Its relatively thick walls also improve resistance to localised impacts and the loads associated with regular recreational use.
The construction provides a controlled and forgiving rig feel, which can make the sail easier to handle in gusty wind and changing conditions. It is particularly useful for riders who value predictable power delivery rather than the sharp response of a full-carbon racing mast.
Good price-to-performance ratio
Spark IV C50 offers many of the construction features used in more advanced Loftsails masts at a more accessible price. The combination of T700 carbon, pre-preg production and individually controlled bend characteristics makes it more than a basic entry-level mast.

Loftsails mast manufacturing standards
Loftsails masts are manufactured using only the highest-grade materials and pre-preg (fiber cloth that’s pre-impregnated with resin) construction methods that are highly consistent for quality control and superior to traditional ‘wet’ layup processes that do no guarantee even resin transfer, strength and performance. Loftsails use superior T800 & T700 carbon fiber in their masts. T800 is the optimum fiber when under strain and elongation and compression and also delivers superior response action that enhances sails so well. T700 has even more superior resin absorption and consistency and in fact Loftsails leading Team Edition masts use both fabrics for the ultimate blend of quality and performance.

Accurate materials specifaction
The CAD plotter accurately cuts all composite raw materials used in the process. This is vital for consistency of weight control and performance.

Taking shape mandrels
The right mandrel for each model is then chosen so that the required taper, thickness, bend curve and many other characteristics specified for each model can be produced.

Layup and dressing
For confidentiality reasons we cannot show Loftsails’ precise, classified techniques used in the next stages. These steps involve rolling the plotted composite materials onto the mandrel with a closely guarded process on how the unique inner and compression layups are formed and secretive method for how the ferrules are integrated. The stickers are applied at this stage though!

Taping
External finishing such as protective basalt layers and durable finishing tape are applied to protect from camber wear, heat and impact.

Curing
The mast is cooked in an autoclave. It’s vital to closely monitor and precisely control the curation process at various stages for the most consistent results.

QC
Quality Control checks are made such as bend curve measurement, strength under load and impact. Final finishing inspections are then completed before packaging. Next stop – the beach!
