Freedom of movement in the water
A waist-mounted wing leash gives you noticeably more freedom than a standard wrist leash. With the wing attached to your waist, your arms stay free, which is especially useful when swimming through shorebreak, dealing with whitewater, or getting back to your gear. It is a simple idea, but one that makes a real difference on the water.
This setup also works very well for freestyle, as nothing restricts arm movement and it is easier to stay natural during tricks and transitions.
Multiple attachment options
The FBC RAD Wing Waist Leash V2 lets you attach your wing on the left side, right side, or at the back of the belt. The side attachment points work well for more classic riding, while the rear loop is a good option for a more freestyle-oriented setup. In V2, FBC also added a stainless ring for smoother movement and reduced friction.
This gives you more flexibility to set the leash up the way you like, depending on your riding style and the conditions.
Secure closure and extra safety
At the front, the belt uses a Fidlock quick-release buckle. It is easy to use, quick to fasten and release, yet very secure under load. According to the manufacturer, the buckle has a breaking strain of 130 kg, so it is built for demanding use.
The leash also features a twin safety connection system. It attaches both to the leading edge lashing point and to the leading edge handle. If one connection fails during a heavy wipeout, the second one still keeps your wing attached.
Comfort for longer sessions
The belt is built around a 40 mm webbing strap covered with soft 4 mm neoprene, so it sits comfortably around the waist and does not get in the way while riding or swimming. The construction is light and low-profile, which matters when you spend longer sessions on the water or often need to move through the surf line with your wing.
The adjustable fit makes it easy to match the belt to your body, and the two available sizes help you choose the right option without overcomplicating things.
Dyneema leash for demanding use
The leash itself is made from Dyneema and features an elastic core designed to reduce sudden snatch loads. FBC also uses its Dyneema Defender treatment, which helps prevent the leash from sticking to Velcro. A swivel carabiner with a safety lock is included as well, helping reduce twisting and tangling while riding.
The whole system is built for regular use in demanding conditions - whether you are riding waves or working on more dynamic freestyle moves.
