WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE GRIP D/LAB AND SLS?
SLS boards - made with Premium Sandwich Technology
D/LAB boards - made with Custom CNC Sandwich Technology, which is the identical technology used on high-end custom made boards.
This leads to the following differences:
WEIGHT: The D/LAB boards are approx. 500g lighter than the SLS models. The major weight saving comes through the full custom technology. But it's also down to the smallest details like reduced foot strap plugs, reduced to max foot pads and super light water transfer stickers for the artwork.
STIFFNESS: For the D/LAB boards we use a higher carbon content which makes for a more direct riding sensation.
DENT RESISTANCE: As with most wave boards on the market, Duotone uses S-glass on the PVC sandwich for the SLS boards, while the D/LAB boards are equipped with a carbon-Innegra layer on the outside. Innegra is the best composite fibre to prevent dents. Dents caused by the mast touching the board (during catapults or when getting washed) are mainly an aesthetic issue. But if you want a board that stays dent-free, you should opt for the D/LAB version.
PRICE: Innegra is considerably more expensive than S-glass. And apart from the higher carbon content, Custom CNC is much more time and labor-intensive. Therefore SLS is cheaper than the D/LAB version.

- PRO EVA PADS - 8-10 mm thick duo density EVA (depending on the board type) provides best dampening comfort and control. The heat pressed diamond grooving pattern protects the EVA against abrasion and provides an extraordinary grip level. Its colour resists dirt and sun-fading
- PREMIUM FOOTSTRAPS - High quality closed cell neoprene for maximum longevity. Only black Lycra coating guarantees maximum comfort as well as maximum durability. The strap features measurement markings to allow you to quickly set up and replicate your individual size
- OUTLINE - Approx. 6 cm shorter than the GRIP 4 with a very similar max. width. The wider nose and swallow tail result in a more parallel rail outline in the center to balance the slashy Thruster fin configuration
- RAIL SHAPE - Only slightly thinned out rails in the tail and nose, ideal for slashy turns
- DECK SHAPE - Reduced dome deck shape results in a more stable/balanced stance, especially in drift & ride conditions
- BOTTOM SHAPE - Progressive double concave V front to back: ideal compromise between performance, manoeuvrability and control. The unique tail channel provides additional grip for the Thruster fin configuration
- ROCKER LINE - Disconnected Rocker: faster surfing scoop-rocker line in the center combined with more rail rocker due to the progressive V in the tail. The slightly reduced center rocker prevents the Thruster fin configuration from releasing too early
- MINI MAST-TRACK - Reduces the weight in the critical nose area. It also reduces the risk to misplace your mast base while still providing just the right amount of length adjustment for all riding styles and sail sizes
- FIN CONFIGURATION - Thruster for better acceleration and earlier tail release
- MINI SIDE SLOT BOXES - no longer offer any adjustment to prevent misplacing your fins. Now all adjustability for different riding styles and sail sizes is done through the center fin(s) only - Plug & Play and lighter weight!
