Freeride and Freestyle for young kitesurfers
The Shred 2027 is designed from the ground up for young riders developing their kitesurfing skills. Its shape and flex characteristics are adapted to lighter riders to make board control easier, support proper edging technique, and help progression from basic Freeride into first Freestyle tricks.
The board combines early planing and forgiving handling with the responsiveness needed as riding skills improve. This allows the Shred to support young riders through successive stages of progression.
Grom-specific narrow outline – easier edge control
The narrower outline is developed specifically for young and lighter riders. It makes it easier to transfer pressure onto the edge, improves maneuverability, and reduces the effort needed to control direction.
With proportions suited to junior kitesurfers, the board reacts more intuitively, helping riders build confidence faster when riding upwind, carving, and learning their first Freestyle maneuvers.
Soft Flex and Torsion Flex – forgiving yet controlled response
Soft Flex uses softer materials, thinner cores, and dedicated geometries to create a smooth and forgiving board response. The construction absorbs impacts and reduces harsh reactions, helping maintain comfort when learning in rougher water.
Torsion Flex uses a unique 3D cap shape to allow controlled torsion along the board’s length. This improves heel-side grip, direct drive, landing control, and overall upwind performance.
Space Flex Technology – smooth turns and early planing
Space Flex Technology provides balanced flex response throughout the length of the board. This allows the Shred to adapt smoothly to the water surface, supporting comfortable handling and early planing.
During carving, the board flexes progressively through the turn, creating smooth and predictable edge transitions. This helps young riders develop control without having to fight against an overly stiff construction.
Double Concave Bottom – stability and damping in chop
The Double Concave Bottom channels water along two concave lines, increasing grip and stability. The shape supports smooth planing, precise control, and responsive transitions through turns.
In chop, the bottom design helps absorb impacts and keeps the board more stable. It also improves control during landings, which is especially useful when learning new Freestyle elements.
Angled Rails – easier upwind riding
Angled Rails increase edge grip and improve upwind efficiency. This helps young riders maintain their position against the wind with less effort and reduces unnecessary load on the legs.
The stronger edge hold also supports more responsive pop as technique develops and the rider progresses toward jumps and Freestyle tricks.
Biax Glass – balanced flex and durability
Biax Glass construction provides a balance between flex and torsional stiffness. The layered fibre orientation improves energy transfer, giving the board a predictable response while edging, popping, and landing.
The material also provides the durability required for regular learning and progression. Grab Rails add practical handling and make the board easier to hold during the development of Freestyle skills.
