Maverick Sail

In our opinion this is a quite high performance sail for newcomers to windsurfing. The Maverick’s smaller sizes: 4.0 / 4.5 / 5.1 / 5.8 are build with Bump & Jump conditions in mind (maneuverable windsurfing) while larger sizes: 6.5 / 7.3 are designed towards Freeride performance and blasting. This is easy and light sail (low weight) what makes Maverick easy to uphaul and easy to use. Highly recommended to use in combination with the dedicated minimum 40% RDM/SDM mast (please refer to specifications) to subtract maximum performance like early planning and upper end control.

QUALITY BATTENS

Unlike with many other sails on this price level, Maverick is equipped with high quality batten lay-out, the same you can find at famous Loftsails sails. These are forward-profile batten systems with Standing Battens at specific locations – that’s for responsive, low-end drive and easy upper end handling.

Small sizes, those more towards Bump & Jump windsurfing, have 4 battens (5 battens in 5.8 size), and larger sizes, those dedicated more to pure Freeride sensation, have 6 battens. The more battens your sail has the more stable it is yet the weight increases. With Maverick construction that issue seems to be very well balanced.

LIGHT WEIGHT, DURABILITY AND PROTECTIONS

In order to protect your sail from wearing out (for example from the board's anti-slip surface) the lowest battens (please note that on sizes 6.5 and 7.3 there are 2 battens like this), those which have contact with your board, are covered with a rubber protection all the way long, from the leach to the mast sleeve. This is a great feature and you can easily check with other sails brands where this feature is usually missing on the budget sails.

The same protection you can find on the bottom edge of Maverick sail.

On the material used for building the Maverick, the sail is constructed mainly with transparent monofilm panels, which decrease weight and increase visibility. To protect from tear downs, at most important areas (a foot and luff panels) a durable X-ply was chosen instead of pure monofilm.

RDM & SDM COMPATIBILITY

The Maverick is RDM mast recommended for sizes 4.0 / 4.5 / 5.1 / 5.8 and SDM mast recommended for sizes 6.5 and 7.3. That doesn’t mean you can’t mix them. Both mast types are fully compatible to maximize your windsurfing experience.

Both these sizes, designed for performance Freeride level blasting, are constructed with some special features. Not only they have 6 high quality battens for stability but also one of them crossing with boom like in high performance sails. That feature assists with better leach opening. Another important feature is the cut-out for the boom which allows to use a shorter boom and make your rig more stiff and lighter.
