Slimmer grip for improved comfort
The Unifiber Essentials Alloy Boom Tapered is designed for riders who prefer a narrower and more comfortable grip. In the hand and harness line area, the tube diameter tapers down to 26 mm, making the boom easier to hold and helping the wrists stay in a more natural position.
This is especially useful for lighter riders, sailors with smaller hands and anyone spending long hours on the water, where reduced forearm load can make a noticeable difference in comfort.
T8 alloy monocoque construction
The boom arms form a continuous monocoque structure through the front section. This helps minimise play between components and improves load distribution compared with constructions based on separately attached boom arms.
T8 aluminium provides the stiffness and durability needed for regular use. Due to the standard tube wall thickness and tapered grip area, this version is slightly less stiff than the non-tapered Essentials Alloy models, but offers a noticeably more comfortable grip.
Made for freeride and bump & jump
The modern boom outline and slightly wider tail work well with current sail designs featuring deeper profiles. The additional clearance helps prevent unnecessary sail profile distortion and allows the sail to retain its intended shape more effectively.
This makes the Essentials Alloy Boom Tapered suitable for recreational and faster freeride sailing as well as more dynamic bump & jump sessions.
Tail setup matched to boom size
The 140 and 160 sizes feature the Loop & Go system, making clew attachment quick and straightforward during rigging.
The 180 size uses a wider tail designed to accommodate larger sails with deeper profiles. It also includes a pulley block for smoother rope adjustment and more precise clew tension.
Modular Boom Concept
The boom is part of the Unifiber Modular Boom Concept, where the boom head, body and tail are separate compatible components.
It can be used with either the Modular Boom Head or the Ergo Boom Head. The Modular Boom Head provides a stiffer and more direct connection to the mast, while the Ergo Boom Head uses a classic single-hinge lever for fast and familiar rigging.
RDM and SDM adapters are included, allowing the boom head to fit both common mast diameters.
Durable grip finish
High-density EVA is used around the front grip area to improve abrasion resistance in sections exposed to frequent wear.
