A setup designed for learning from the ground up
The Unifiber Impulse Trainer 7'8 + Navigator is built to make the first steps in wing foiling easier. This is not a performance-focused setup for experienced riders - its main purpose is to give you a stable platform, predictable handling and more room for mistakes while you learn. That lets you focus on the essentials: balance, wing control, board direction and your first attempts at getting onto the foil.
A board that gives you confidence from the first session
The Impulse Trainer 7'8 is a large inflatable board measuring 234 cm in length, with a wide outline and generous volume created specifically for beginners. Its size and shape make it much easier to stay balanced while learning. The board tolerates weight shifts well and remains steady even in choppy conditions, which is especially helpful when your attention is split between stance, wing handling and waterstart basics.
Inflatable construction with impressive stiffness
The board uses Fusion Composite Dropstitch construction, which gives it noticeably more stiffness than a basic inflatable design. It can be inflated up to 20 PSI for a firmer, more direct feel on the water. Under the stance area, a long carbon composite plate improves rigidity even further, helping the board transfer pressure to the foil more effectively. The result is a more connected feel and better control during take-offs and early flights.
Beginner-friendly design also after a fall
The low-profile 12 cm thickness makes it easier to climb back onto the board after falling in, which is a real advantage during the learning phase. Extra nose rocker helps soften touchdowns and reduces the chance of sudden stops when the board reconnects with the water. A sharp PVC edge around the tail improves water release and helps the board lift more smoothly into flight.
A setup that supports step-by-step progression
One of the biggest strengths of the Impulse Trainer is that it allows for a gradual learning path. You can start by riding the board with standard fins to practise basic wing handling and direction control, then move on to the foil once you feel comfortable. This makes the board a very practical choice for riders who want to build confidence progressively instead of going straight into full foil mode.
Navigator - a foil made for smooth progression
The Unifiber Navigator foil range has been developed to make first successful flights easier. It offers early lift, stable tracking and forgiving handling at low speed. With carbon wings, a 75 cm aluminium mast and a 65 cm fuselage, it gives a strong balance between control and ease of use. That matches the character of the Impulse Trainer very well, making the full setup feel calm, supportive and predictable on the water.
Navigator 1600 or 2000?
The Navigator 1600 is the more allround option. It suits heavier riders, lighter wind conditions, or anyone who wants a foil that still offers strong support during take-off but keeps a slightly more versatile freeride character once progression starts.
The Navigator 2000 is the most forgiving version in the range. It delivers very early lift and excellent low-speed stability, making it the best option for complete beginners, relaxed cruising and riders who want to achieve their first sustained flights as easily as possible.
A strong option for beginners and heavier riders
The Impulse Trainer 7'8 is especially suitable for people with no previous board sports experience, riders up to 110 kg, and anyone who values stability and safety during the learning process. It is a setup that helps reduce frustration in the early phase and gives you a solid base to keep progressing.
