ShortText:

Stiffer construction for demanding sailing

The Unifiber HD Alloy Boom is designed for windsurfers who want more stiffness and durability than a standard aluminium boom can offer. Increased tube wall thickness reduces flex under load, resulting in more direct power transfer and a more solid feel during fast freeride sailing, jumping, bump & jump sessions and wave riding.

The boom arm curves are shaped to resist deflection under load. This helps the HD Alloy deliver stiffness approaching that of more expensive carbon booms while keeping the advantages of aluminium construction.

Monocoque construction

The boom uses a continuous tube running from one side to the other through the front section. Unlike designs where two separate arms are attached to the boom head, the monocoque layout improves load distribution, rigidity and overall durability.

This construction reduces unwanted movement under higher loads and makes the boom better suited to regular, intensive use.

Modular Boom Concept

The boom is part of the Unifiber Modular Boom Concept. The system separates the boom into three compatible components, allowing riders to combine boom heads, bodies and tails according to their setup.

The versions listed here are supplied with the Modular Boom Head, which provides a stiff and direct connection to the mast. RDM and SDM adapters are included, allowing the head to fit both common mast diameters.

Grip diameter matched to boom size

The 140-190 and 160-210 versions use 27 mm grip sections. This diameter provides a comfortable and secure hold for smaller freeride, wave and bump & jump sails.

The 180-230 and 200-250 versions use 29 mm grip sections. The larger diameter increases stiffness at longer boom settings and helps the boom handle the higher loads generated by larger sails.

Wider tails for modern sail profiles

The boom tails are wider to provide more clearance for deeper modern sail profiles and reduce unwanted contact between the sail and boom.

The 180-230 and 200-250 models feature extra-oversized tails, providing additional stiffness and more room for larger, fuller-profile sails.

Built for regular use

High-density EVA is used around the front grip sections to improve abrasion resistance in areas exposed to frequent wear.

The anodised tail improves corrosion resistance, which is particularly useful for riders who regularly sail in salt water.

Compared with the Essentials Alloy range, the HD Alloy is heavier, mainly because of the increased tube wall thickness used to improve stiffness and durability.

Features

  • Monocoque construction - A continuous tube running through the front section improves rigidity, load distribution and durability
  • HD Alloy construction - Increased tube wall thickness reduces boom flex and improves durability compared with standard aluminium constructions
  • Modular Boom Concept - Modular construction allows compatible Unifiber boom heads, bodies and tails to be combined
  • Modular Boom Head - Provides a stiff and direct connection between the boom and mast
  • RDM and SDM adapters - Included adapters allow the boom head to fit both common mast diameters
  • 27 or 29 mm grip diameter - 140 and 160 sizes use a 27 mm grip, while 180 and 200 sizes use a 29 mm diameter for increased stiffness
  • Wider tail - Extra clearance helps accommodate deeper modern sail profiles without unnecessary distortion
  • High-density EVA grip - Durable EVA around the front section improves abrasion resistance during regular use
  • Anodised tail - Improves corrosion resistance and long-term durability
  • Performance bolts - Optional performance bolts are included with the HD Modular Boom Head for a stiffer connection
