DO YOU NEED ADVICE

Unifiber HD Alloy Boom - Ergo Head is a high-stiffness aluminium windsurfing boom available in HD and HD Tapered versions. Increased tube wall thickness, monocoque construction and the classic Ergo Boom Head make it suitable for freeride, freerace, bump & jump and wave sailing.

Stiffer aluminium construction for harder use

The Unifiber HD Alloy Boom - Ergo Head range is designed for riders who want more stiffness and durability from aluminium than standard constructions can offer. Increased tube wall thickness reduces flex under load, improves sail control and provides a more direct feel during faster sailing, jumping and powered-up sessions.

The boom arm profile is shaped to minimise deflection as much as possible. This allows the HD range to approach the stiffness of more expensive carbon constructions while retaining a T8 aluminium frame.

Ergo Boom Head

All versions in this range are equipped with the Ergo Boom Head and its classic single-hinge lever. The mechanism is quick and straightforward to use, making it a good choice for riders who prefer a familiar and traditional boom head system.

RDM and SDM adapters are included to ensure the correct fit for both common mast diameters and to help distribute clamping pressure more evenly.

If maximum mast connection stiffness is the priority, the Modular Boom Head version remains the alternative option.

HD - classic profile and high stiffness

The standard HD Alloy is the most versatile version in the range. The 140 and 160 sizes use 27 mm grip sections, offering a good balance of comfort and stiffness for freeride, bump & jump and wave sailing.

The larger 180 and 200 sizes use 29 mm grip sections and considerably wider tails. This increases stiffness at longer boom settings and provides additional clearance for larger sails with deeper profiles.

HD Tapered - slimmer grip

The HD Tapered version retains the increased wall thickness of the HD construction while using a narrower tube profile through the main grip area.

It is aimed at riders who want the stiffness and durability of the HD range but prefer a slimmer and more comfortable hold. The reduced grip diameter makes the boom easier to wrap the hand around and can help reduce forearm fatigue during longer sessions.

HD Tapered is particularly suitable where comfort, control and structural stiffness are all important.

Tails designed for modern sail profiles

Wider tail outlines provide extra clearance for deeper modern sail profiles and reduce the risk of the sail being distorted by contact with the boom.

Larger sizes use even wider tails, which also increase stiffness under load and improve compatibility with larger freeride and freerace sails.

Built for regular use

High-density EVA is used around the front grip sections to improve abrasion resistance in areas exposed to frequent wear.

Anodised tails improve corrosion resistance and long-term durability, particularly for riders who regularly sail in salt water.

Because of the increased tube wall thickness, HD models are generally heavier than Essentials Alloy booms. The additional weight, however, comes with greater stiffness and improved resistance to higher loads.

Which version should you choose?

HD

The most versatile option for riders looking for a stiff aluminium boom for freeride, bump & jump and wave sailing

HD Tapered

For riders who prefer a slimmer and more comfortable grip while still wanting the stiffness and durability of the HD construction

Features

  • HD construction - Increased tube wall thickness improves stiffness and durability compared with standard aluminium constructions
  • Monocoque construction - Continuous boom arm design reduces play, improves load distribution and increases structural integrity
  • Ergo Boom Head - Classic single-hinge boom head for quick and intuitive attachment to the mast
  • RDM and SDM adapters - Included adapters provide the correct fit for both common mast diameters
  • Deflection-resistant arm profile - Boom arm curves are designed to reduce flex under load and improve direct feedback
  • HD grip - Depending on size, standard HD models use 27 or 29 mm grip sections for increased stiffness
  • Tapered grip - Narrower grip profile on the HD Tapered version improves comfort and can reduce forearm fatigue
  • Wider tail - Provides additional clearance for deeper sail profiles and helps reduce unwanted distortion
  • Extra-wide tail - Used on larger sizes to increase stiffness under load and provide more room for bigger sails
  • High-density EVA - Durable grip material around the front section improves abrasion resistance
  • Anodised tail - Improves corrosion resistance and long-term durability
  • Higher structural weight - Thicker tube walls make HD models heavier than Essentials Alloy booms but provide greater stiffness and durability
