DO YOU NEED ADVICE

Unifiber HD Alloy V-Grip Boom - Ergo Head is an aluminium windsurfing boom for freeride and freerace, available in 140-190 and 200-250 cm sizes. The 26 x 33 mm V-Grip profile helps reduce forearm fatigue, while the reinforced HD construction provides high stiffness under load.

V-Grip for comfortable longer sessions

The Unifiber HD Alloy V-Grip Boom - Ergo Head features a distinctive V-shaped tube profile designed to follow the natural position of the fingers and palm. This allows a more relaxed hold and can help reduce forearm strain during longer sessions.

The grip measures 26 x 33 mm. Its slim 26 mm dimension makes the boom easier to hold, while the V-shaped profile adds structural integrity and provides more direct feedback from the sail.

This combination is aimed primarily at freeride and freerace sailors who spend long periods in the harness and value both comfort and precise sail control.

The V-Grip feels noticeably different from a conventional round boom, so whether it suits your preferred hand position will ultimately depend on personal preference.

Reinforced HD T8 aluminium construction

The boom body is made from T8 aluminium with 1.7 mm tube walls. The increased wall thickness of the HD construction provides greater stiffness and durability compared with standard aluminium booms.

The arm geometry is designed to minimise deflection under load. Combined with the V-Grip profile, this results in a rigid construction and more direct power transfer between the rider and sail.

The additional material also makes HD models heavier than Essentials Alloy booms, but the trade-off is increased stiffness and durability for more demanding sailing.

Ergo Boom Head

The boom is equipped with the Ergo Boom Head and its classic single-hinge lever. The system is straightforward to operate and allows the boom to be attached to the mast quickly.

The boom head provides axial movement, helping it align correctly with the boom position on the mast. RDM and SDM adapters are included, allowing correct fitting to both common mast diameters.

Two sizes for different sail ranges

The 140-190 cm version has a maximum inner body width of 38 cm and a 12 cm inner tail width. Its body uses a C-shape profile and the tail features the Loop & Go system for quick and simple outhaul attachment.

This size is particularly suitable for smaller and medium-sized freeride and freerace sails.

The 200-250 cm version is designed for larger sails with deeper profiles. Its maximum inner body width increases to 49 cm, while the inner tail width is 18 cm. The extra clearance helps prevent the boom from interfering with the sail profile and allows larger sails to maintain their intended shape.

The 200-250 cm version uses a pulley tail system, making it easier to apply and fine-tune outhaul tension when dealing with the higher loads generated by larger freeride and freerace sails.

Stable length adjustment

Both versions use Double Pin Locks mounted on the boom body. The two pins securely lock the tail at the selected length and help minimise unwanted movement under load.

The tail tube diameter is 22.5 mm on both sizes.

Durable finish

High-density EVA is used around the front grip section to improve abrasion resistance in areas exposed to frequent wear.

The anodised tail improves corrosion resistance and long-term durability, particularly for riders who regularly sail in salt water.

Inlaid & Embossed grip graphics are integrated into the grip surface rather than relying only on a conventional surface print, improving resistance to wear.

Features

  • V-Grip 26 x 33 mm - The V-shaped profile follows the natural hand position, can help reduce forearm fatigue and adds structural stiffness to the boom arms
  • HD construction - Increased tube wall thickness improves stiffness and durability compared with standard aluminium constructions
  • Ergo Boom Head - Classic single-hinge boom head for quick and intuitive attachment to the mast
  • RDM and SDM adapters - Included adapters provide the correct fit for both common mast diameters
  • T8 aluminium - Provides a strong and durable construction suitable for regular freeride and freerace sailing
  • 1.7 mm tube walls - Reinforced tube construction helps reduce boom flex under higher loads
  • Axial boom head movement - Allows the boom head to align with the boom position on the mast
  • Loop & Go - 140-190 - Provides quick and straightforward outhaul attachment on the smaller boom size
  • Pulley system - 200-250 - Makes precise outhaul adjustment easier when using larger sails and higher loads
  • Wider tail - 200-250 - The 18 cm inner tail width provides additional clearance for larger sails with deeper profiles
  • Double Pin Locks - Two locking pins securely hold the tail at the selected boom length
  • High-density EVA - Durable grip material improves abrasion resistance around the front section
  • Anodised tail - Improves corrosion resistance and long-term durability
  • Inlaid & Embossed graphics - Graphics integrated into the grip surface provide better resistance to wear than conventional surface printing
  • Higher structural weight - The reinforced HD construction is heavier than Essentials Alloy models but provides greater stiffness and durability
