WindSUP for freeride - what the iWindsurf RS range is about
STX iWindsurf RS boards are designed as dedicated WindSUP platforms for freeride: easy handling, stable starts and predictable control across a wide range of conditions. The idea is to get an inflatable board that feels closer to a hardboard than a typical “SUP with a mast insert”, so you can paddle on calm days and build confidence under a sail when the wind comes in.
Three sizes (250 / 280 / 285) - how to choose
The iWindsurf RS line comes in three lengths to match your weight, skill level and how stable vs. reactive you want the board to feel:
250: the most compact and lively option, typically best for lighter riders or those who want a more dynamic feel sooner
280: the balanced middle size, combining stability with easier turning and a more responsive ride
285: the largest and most buoyant version, aimed at maximum stability, schools, families and heavier riders
FXL construction - superlight and stiff
These are specialized windsurfing boards built in a superlight and stiff construction. The FXL light weight woven welded construction focuses on rigidity once inflated, while double layered hyper glued side walls help limit flex through the rails and keep the platform stable when loaded with a rig.
Mast base plate - designed for windsurfing loads
STX uses a dedicated windsurfing base plate designed not to interfere with the inner core of the board. This detail matters when the board is used frequently (for example in schools) because it helps distribute loads and supports long-term durability around the mast base area.
Footstraps and stance guidance
The iWindsurf RS boards feature windsurfing footstrap inserts and adjustable windsurfing footstraps, so you can progress from relaxed cruising to a more locked-in freeride stance as your speed and confidence increase. The deckpad uses Honey and Gator grip zones to make it easier to recognize and repeat your ideal stance.
Railsaver - cleaner release and earlier planing
A dedicated railsaver supports easier water release, which helps the board accelerate more efficiently and supports earlier planing when you start pushing for faster freeride sailing.
Fin boxes and tracking
The boards use US fin boxes, a widely used standard that makes fin swapping straightforward if you want to tune tracking and control for your local conditions. Fins are included with the board.
Package contents and transport
The package includes a SUP backpack, a pump, fins and a repair kit, so you can pack the board down compactly and get it ready for the water without additional essentials.
