Complete MXT system for SDM masts
NeilPryde MXT Aluminium SDM + Power MXT Base is designed for windsurfing rigs fitted with an SDM mast. The set includes an aluminium MXT extension and a compatible Power MXT mast base with a urethane tendon.
The Mono-Button Mast Base and Extension System, known as MXT, is used by many PWA sailors. It was developed to provide a secure mast-to-board connection, straightforward operation and the strength required for high downhaul loads.
Aluminium SDM mast extension
The extension tube is made from aluminium, providing the stiffness and durability needed for regular use. It is also a more affordable alternative to the carbon version.
The extension is available in 34 cm and 48 cm lengths, allowing you to select the correct adjustment range for your mast and sail.
MXT Large Mono-Button system
The large Mono-Button provides a secure connection between the extension and mast base. Its size makes the system easier to operate, including with wet or cold hands.
The MXT extension is designed to work with the NeilPryde Power MXT base. Together, both components form an integrated connection system built to handle high loads.
Integrated stainless-steel lower assembly
The bottom section of the extension uses an integrated cast stainless-steel structure. It transfers the load directly from the pulleys to the extension tube without relying on plastic load-bearing components.
Removing unnecessary plastic reduces weight, while the increased cross-section of the stainless-steel parts improves strength. According to the manufacturer, the assembly can withstand more than 900 kg of downhaul load.
Stainless-steel pulleys and reduced friction
The stainless-steel pulleys provide durability and reduce friction while tensioning the downhaul. This makes rigging easier, especially with sails that require high luff tension.
The lower pulley is angled to improve the alignment between the sail block, rope and extension. This reduces resistance and allows the sail to be downhauled fully in a block-to-block setup.
Integrated rope cleat and Spectra rope
The rope cleat is integrated into the stainless-steel lower assembly and aligned with the pulleys. This creates a clean rope path, secure locking and lower friction.
The extension uses high-grade Spectra rope designed for durability, low stretch and repeated use under high loads.
Clamshell Adjustment System
The Clamshell Adjustment System allows the extension length to be set quickly and easily. It is designed to work reliably across different temperatures.
Its heavy-duty stainless-steel construction provides positive engagement and is not affected by sand. The absence of adjustment grooves also helps maintain the strength of the extension tube.
Tack Slot
The Tack Slot helps keep the tack webbing securely in position. This limits unwanted movement and keeps the lower part of the rig organised after rigging.
Power MXT mast base
The Power MXT base uses a US box mast base system and a transparent urethane tendon. Its low-profile construction keeps the rig connection close to the board.
The wide contact area helps distribute loads across a larger section of the deck. A padded grip plate provides shock absorption and helps protect the board from scratches.
