ShortText:

Bump & jump with freeride drive

Windscape is Loftsails’ dedicated bump & jump sail, developed for sessions where conditions are constantly changing.

Its character combines the maneuverability needed for jibes, jumps and sailing through chop with enough drive for fast freeride blasting on a fin.

The profile is deliberately less locked-in than on a pure freeride sail, helping Windscape remain responsive and easy to move through transitions.

Hybrid shape

Above the boom, Windscape carries clear wave-sail influence.

The upper section remains light and easy to reposition, improving response through jibes, stance changes and smaller maneuvers.

Below the boom, the outline moves closer to freeride territory. The extended batten layout stabilizes the center of effort and provides consistent drive when sailing fast on a fin.

The result is a sail that combines maneuverability with the stability required for longer powered reaches.

Smooth and predictable power

Windscape is tuned to deliver consistent power as wind strength changes.

Its balanced luff curve keeps the sail light and reactive through transitions while maintaining forward drive as pressure builds.

Power comes on progressively rather than abruptly, helping the rider stay in control through chop and during longer sessions in variable wind.

Wide tuning range

Each Windscape size is designed to work across a broad usable wind range.

With a softer trim, the sail retains more depth and delivers smooth drive and easy acceleration.

Increasing downhaul and outhaul progressively flattens the profile and opens the leech, improving control as the wind builds.

Dual Clew Eyelets

Two clew eyelets further extend the tuning range.

The upper eyelet shortens the distance between the boom and mast top, creating a firmer leech. This setting is suitable for lighter wind and upwind sailing.

The lower eyelet adds more elasticity and creates a larger twist zone, improving control in stronger wind and on more open courses.

Standing Battens

Windscape uses Standing Battens, designed to provide some of the performance benefits of tube battens with greater resilience.

They stabilize the profile and help extend the upper wind range while remaining more resistant to the loads encountered in rougher, more demanding conditions.

Full X-Ply Construction

Windscape HD LTD uses a full X-Ply construction focused on durability and shape stability.

Reinforcement in key stress areas is supported by Loftsails’ Integrated Panel Concept, while a 5 mil foot panel and robust 30 mm mast sleeve seam increase resistance to abrasion and long-term fatigue.

The construction is designed to support frequent use without adding unnecessary weight or stiffness.

Kevlar-Reinforced Clew Panel

A Kevlar-reinforced laminate panel runs from the clew to the batten above it.

It strengthens one of the sail’s most consistently loaded areas and helps reduce wear during sailing, transport and storage.

Trim and rigging details

Trim Diamond provides a visual reference for checking leech release and repeating precise trim settings.

Full-Opening Mast Pad gives easy access to the mast extension, downhaul system and integrated batten tensioner.

The model is available in Fuchsia and LTD Green colorways.

FAQ – Loftsails Windscape 2026

What's new in the Windscape?

A new LTD Green colorway joins the Windscape range, featuring the same construction and materials as the Fuchsia version.

What conditions is the Windscape designed for?

The Windscape is designed for bump & jump and freeride sailing in mixed conditions.

It performs best on flat water, in chop and on smaller waves, where wind strength and water conditions may change during a session. The sail delivers smooth, usable power and maintains a balanced feel, making it well suited to gusty coastal spots and everyday freeride sailing.

Windscape is neither a dedicated light-wind sail nor a specialized wave design. It is a versatile option for riders who want one sail to cover a wide range of conditions without demanding handling characteristics.

What mast is recommended for the Windscape 5.2 HD 2026?

For the Windscape 5.2 HD 2026, the manufacturer recommends the Loftsails Team Edition RDM 400 mast.

Alternatively, the Loftsails Vision RDM 400 can also be used.

What skill level is recommended for the Windscape?

The Windscape is designed for intermediate to experienced windsurfers.

Intermediate riders will appreciate its straightforward rigging, light handling and smooth, predictable power delivery.

More experienced sailors will value its balance and control when sailing fully powered, jumping or occasionally riding waves.

What type of board works best with the Windscape?

The Windscape pairs naturally with bump & jump, freewave and freeride boards, primarily in single-fin configurations. A thruster setup also works well for sessions at local wave spots.

Its balanced profile provides enough drive for fast sailing while allowing smooth jibes and transitions without feeling overly locked-in.

For dedicated wave boards, the Wavescape or Purelip are more suitable choices, while the Oxygen is a better match for freeride and freerace boards focused on speed.

What's the difference between Windscape, Purelip and Oxygen?

All three sails can be used for freeride-style sailing, but they have been developed with different priorities in mind.

Windscape is the most versatile of the three. It balances maneuverability and drive, making it ideal for bump & jump and mixed freeride conditions. It feels light and responsive, delivering enough power for fast sailing while remaining forgiving and easy to handle.

Purelip is better suited to high-wind bump & jump sessions and wave sailing in demanding conditions. It is designed to be sailed fully powered, prioritizing stability, durability and control in rough water and gusty winds.

Oxygen is a freeride and no-cam freerace sail focused on speed and accessibility. It delivers a more locked-in profile and strong forward drive, making it particularly suitable for flat water and long, fast reaches.

In short, Windscape offers the greatest versatility, Purelip excels in demanding conditions, and Oxygen prioritizes freeride speed and efficiency.
