Pocket wing character
Frigate is F-ONE’s first pocket wing, created to simplify and expand the possibilities of downwind foiling. Its core purpose is fast and efficient upwind riding, followed by complete freedom during long downwind runs. The design focuses on intuitive handling, stability, and comfort, making it suitable for both newcomers to pocket winging and experienced riders seeking autonomy and adventure.
Construction and profile
Frigate is a single-skin pocket wing with an optimized aerodynamic profile. A stiff leading edge, controlled canopy tension, and a minimalist bridle layout reduce drag and improve airflow. The integration of mini-ribs and D-ribs—technologies derived from paragliding—enhances profile definition, increases stiffness, and reduces the number of bridles required.
On the water
Frigate stands out for its exceptional upwind efficiency. The pocket wing generates a forward-oriented pull that allows quick and effortless upwind riding with minimal effort, while also enabling the use of smaller foils. Stability and control remain consistent even when fully sheeted out, ensuring a smooth and comfortable ride in gusty or variable conditions.
Wind range and power delivery
Thanks to its wide wind range, Frigate allows riders to stay on the water all day with a single size. In lighter winds, it delivers smooth and constant power with minimal effort. In stronger winds, it remains stable, predictable, and easy to control. The revolutionary dynamic bridle system automatically adjusts canopy tension depending on whether the wing is sheeted in or sheeted out, without requiring any rider input.
Handling, stowing and ergonomics
Frigate is designed for simplicity and ease of use. Short bridles with a clear color-coding system reduce the risk of tangles and improve clarity on the water. Once depowered, the pocket wing can be quickly stowed using the dedicated stash handle, making it easy to transition back to downwind riding. The lightweight vertical carbon bar with EVA grip provides precise, comfortable control, even when riding one-handed.
Materials and durability
The canopy is made from premium Porcher fabric, renowned for its optimal balance of lightness, stiffness, and durability. This waterproof material prevents water absorption, keeping the pocket wing light and easy to relaunch even after water contact. High-quality LIROS bridles ensure low elongation, excellent abrasion resistance, and long-term reliability.
Harness line
Frigate comes equipped with a mono harness line, essential for pocket winging. It reduces arm fatigue, improves control, and adapts better to changing wind conditions. The attachment point can be adjusted on the bar to fine-tune the wing’s behavior: a forward position reduces power for strong winds, while a rearward position increases traction for lighter conditions.
