Freestyle sail for competition and progression
Idol is designed for high-level new school freestyle, both for training and competition. Its construction is focused on rapid changes in sail load: smooth power build-up before the maneuver, neutrality at the right moment, and controlled reloading on the way out.
It is particularly suited to duck moves, air moves, and freestyle competition, while the additional Foil Eyelet expands its use to foil sessions.
Batten Free Center – smoother power through tricks
Batten Free Center creates a larger gap between the foot batten and the batten above the boom. This open section allows the sail to build power more progressively instead of switching abruptly between loaded and neutral.
During duck moves, Idol can go neutral more easily and then reload smoothly after the transition. The construction also increases lift during aerial freestyle moves.
Convex Dacron Luff Panel
The elastic convex Dacron panel along the luff retains freedom of movement without being restricted by battens. This helps the sail stay loaded during jumps and tricks where the rider uses sail pressure to generate lift.
Combined with the Batten Free Center, it creates a more progressive power delivery and greater freedom during technical freestyle maneuvers.
Light Done Right – lower weight without thinner main panels
Light Done Right construction reduces weight by approximately 200–300 g compared with a conventional design, without reducing the thickness of the main panels.
This allows Duotone to retain materials selected for durability while removing weight in areas where it does not compromise resistance to intensive use and crashes.
Stable profile and freestyle durability
The Hollow Lower Leech stabilizes the profile directly above the boom and reduces unwanted leech flutter. Epoxy Battens and factory-calibrated iROCKET 2.0 tensioners maintain the intended structural tension.
Crash-prone areas use Double Seam construction with triple zig-zag stitching, while the main panel uses 100-micron ULTRA FILM.
Precise trim and wide operating range
VTS – Visual Trim System helps set the downhaul for either the lower or upper wind range. TT TOP supports control in stronger gusts, while 3D Top Cap and Set & Go Vario Top help achieve the correct setup at the top of the sail.
Individual Boom Length Indication also provides the recommended boom length directly on the mast sleeve.

- Foil Eyelet - The additional eyelet expands trimming options for foil sessions
- Duratech Foot - The protected sail foot shields seams and material from abrasion against the board's nonslip surface
- Twin Strap - The twin-strap system keeps the rolled sail compact and holds the mast protector close to the mast while sailing
- Triple Tack Roller 3.0 - The nickel-plated brass triple roller reduces the force required for downhaul adjustment
- Polyester Webbing Only - Polyester webbing in the vario top and tack area reduces stretch and loss of tension
- Double Buckle - The metal Double-D buckle on the vario top holds the webbing securely and reduces unwanted slippage
- Set & Go Vario Top - Clear length markings allow the vario top to be matched to the mast without repeated trial and error
- 3D Top Cap - Three-dimensional distribution of downhaul forces into the sail body reduces top flutter and supports a progressive loose leech
- TT TOP - The reduced concave top shape enables more three-dimensional twist and helps maintain control in stronger wind
- VTS – Visual Trim System - Visual markings help set downhaul quickly and accurately for the lower or upper wind range
