5 battens – control without a heavy feel
Duke SLS is designed for bump & jump, freewave, freeride, freestyle, and wave sailing in gusty and demanding conditions. The five-batten layout stabilizes the profile and provides a broad operating range, especially when wind strength changes rapidly.
At the same time, Light Done Right construction reduces weight without decreasing the thickness of the main panels. According to Duotone, this saves approximately 300 g compared with conventional construction while maintaining durability and material stability under load.
Batten Free Center and wide wind range
Batten Free Center uses a larger gap between the foot batten and the batten above the boom. This allows the boom area to inflate more easily, supporting the power required for early planing.
The denser batten spacing in the upper sail stabilizes the profile in strong gusts. This combination retains the control of a 5-batten design without sacrificing lively and responsive handling.
Draft Forward – power that disappears during maneuvers
The high, forward-oriented draft supports early planing without the need for aggressive pumping. At the same time, when the sail is sheeted out, power quickly switches off, allowing Duke to become neutral during jibes and tricks.
The forward draft also generates lift for jumping and helps maintain control from take-off to landing. Its power delivery resembles that of modern freeride sails, making it easier to switch between different setups.
Refined trim systems
VTS Tail Outhaul Specs indicate the correct outhaul setting for each size when used with a compatible VTS TAIL boom. iROCKET 2.0 uses individually calibrated batten tension set at the factory with a torque wrench.
3D Top Cap distributes downhaul forces more evenly through the upper sail, while Set & Go Vario Top allows the correct top length to be matched quickly to the mast used. Double-D Buckle prevents the webbing from slipping once adjusted.
Durable and practical details
Polyester Webbing reduces stretch and helps maintain stable luff tension. Triple Tack Roller 3.0 reduces the force required for downhaul adjustment, while Twin Strap keeps the rolled sail compact and holds the mast protector in position while sailing.
Duke is also available in an HD version without monofilm.
