Freewave with a strong freestyle character
Ultra FreeWave 2.0 SLS is built around a modern freestyle shape, with a strong focus on acceleration, pop, and responsiveness. The design is then tuned for wave performance, making the board suitable for bump & jump, side-on wave riding, and freestyle.
Rather than focusing only on easy handling, the shape is designed to feel lively underfoot, responsive in a straight line, and precise through turns.
New tail for tighter turns
The 2.0 version features a revised tail outline that improves responsiveness during carving. The new tail allows the board to turn tighter and react more spontaneously when the rider commits to the rail.
The square tail, combined with thin yet boxy rails in the rear section, also provides additional volume to push against during take-off, helping generate more pop for jumps.
Improved comfort underfoot
The deck around the footstrap area has a more domed profile than before. This improves foot support and comfort during longer sessions, particularly in choppy and powered-up conditions.
The rider can maintain a more relaxed and stable stance, reducing the need for constant foot-position corrections.
Single fin or tri-fin
One of the defining characteristics of the Ultra FreeWave is the ability to change the board’s behavior through the fin setup.
The tri-fin configuration is focused on wave riding and increases maneuverability during bottom and top turns. The single-fin setup delivers a more driven and direct character suited to freestyle and fast freewave sailing.
Multiple footstrap inserts and fin options provide further setup possibilities to match different riding styles.
Shape designed for varied conditions
The parallel outline reduces drag and supports control, while the wide tail helps with early planing, upwind performance, and take-off for jumps.
The rails feature a medium diameter in the nose and center for a balance of performance and maneuverability, while becoming thinner toward the tail for increased grip and control.
The bottom uses a constant V with slight double concaves, providing a smoother and more comfortable ride, especially in chop.
FULL CUSTOM SLS
Ultra FreeWave 2.0 SLS uses FULL CUSTOM SLS construction with S_GLASS+ reinforcement. Compared with D/LAB construction, it uses a lower carbon content, while Innegra is replaced by S_GLASS+.
According to Duotone, FULL CUSTOM SLS boards are stronger and lighter than comparable boards produced with conventional semi-custom construction.
AI_BOARD_3D and Synced Curves Concept
Duotone uses its proprietary AI_BOARD_3D software based on mathematical data-driven input.
Synced Curves Concept synchronizes three key elements of the board shape: outline, rocker, and rail curvature. This allows the different curves to work together instead of creating conflicting responses during straight-line riding and carving.
