For 2027, the Unit D/LAB features a shorter strut, creating a more compact wing and reducing swing weight. This improves maneuverability and makes the wing easier to position precisely during transitions, Freestyle moves, and dynamic riding.
The compact geometry also supports effortless one-handed control and intuitive wing positioning while surfing and flagging.
Full Aluula Gold Frame – minimum weight and maximum stiffness
The entire frame of the Unit D/LAB, including the leading edge and strut, is made from 82 g Aluula Gold. It is the lightest and stiffest frame construction in the Duotone range, developed to minimize weight while maintaining very high structural stiffness.
Reduced frame deformation under load translates into more immediate power transfer and direct feedback. The rider gets fast response and high efficiency whether using the Unit D/LAB for fast Freeride, technical Freestyle, or Wave riding.
Reduced Leading Edge Diameter – lower drag and more speed
The reduced leading-edge diameter lowers aerodynamic drag, allowing the wing to accelerate more efficiently and achieve higher speeds while maintaining precise handling.
Lower drag also supports efficient upwind riding and works together with the stiff Aluula Gold frame to deliver power more directly.
Refined Profile Distribution – efficient power and stable flagging
The profile is shallower in the center and deeper towards the quarter span. This refined distribution improves power efficiency while increasing stability when the wing is flagged out.
This is particularly important for Wave wingfoiling. With the rear hand released, the Unit D/LAB remains balanced and stable, allowing the rider to focus more on surfing the wave.
Optimized Canopy Tension and Tip Twist – stable draft
Optimized canopy tension and Tip Twist create a cleaner and more stable wing profile. Reduced draft movement provides more predictable power delivery and an immediate response to changes in wing position.
The stable canopy also improves control through gusts and lulls, maintaining consistent feedback across changing wind conditions.
MOD3s Canopy – draft stability and durability
The Unit D/LAB uses a high-performance MOD3s Canopy designed for durability, draft stability, and long-lasting performance.
Molded Mini Batten Pockets further support canopy stability and help maintain the intended profile throughout regular use.
Fusion Boom & Handle Option – choose your preferred setup
The Fusion system allows the Unit D/LAB to be used with either a boom or handles. Riders can choose the setup that best suits their preferences and riding style while keeping the same wing platform.
This makes it possible to configure the wing either for unrestricted hand positioning on a boom or for a more traditional handle setup.
New Window Layout – improved visibility
The updated window layout improves visibility and awareness on the water without compromising the wing’s performance characteristics. It helps riders monitor their surroundings more easily during riding and maneuvers.
