Versatile performance for Freeride, Freestyle, and Wave
The Unit 2027 builds on the character of one of Duotone’s most versatile wings, combining smooth handling with efficient power generation and stable performance across changing conditions. Its construction is refined to perform equally well during relaxed Freeride sessions, dynamic Freestyle riding, and waves.
Changes to the geometry, profile, and canopy tension improve direct response and give the wing a more predictable feel through gusts and lulls.
Shorter Strut – more compact handling
The shorter strut reduces swing weight and gives the wing a more compact feel. This makes quick maneuvers, repositioning, and precise wing control easier during transitions and Freestyle moves.
Reduced swing weight also improves handling in waves. The Unit is easier to control with one hand and remains more intuitive to position while flagging.
Refined Profile Distribution – efficient power and stable flagging
The profile distribution has been refined with reduced depth in the center and increased profile towards the quarter span. This allows the wing to generate power more efficiently while maintaining stable, predictable handling.
The updated profile also improves flagging performance. The wing remains more balanced while surfing waves or swell, allowing the rider to focus on foil control instead of constantly correcting the wing position.
Optimized Canopy Tension and Tip Twist
Fine-tuned canopy tension and Tip Twist create cleaner aerodynamics and help keep the draft stable. Power develops more predictably, while the wing responds directly to changes in angle and rider input.
The more stable canopy reduces unwanted profile movement through gusts and lulls, helping the Unit maintain smooth and controlled power delivery across a wide wind range.
Increased use of MOD3s in the canopy
The Unit 2027 uses a higher percentage of MOD3s material in the canopy. This improves durability, helps maintain canopy tension, and supports consistent performance over time.
Molded Mini Batten Pockets further stabilize the canopy profile and help preserve the wing’s intended performance characteristics throughout regular use.
Fusion Boom & Handle Option – choose your preferred setup
The Fusion system allows the Unit to be configured with either a boom or handles, giving riders the freedom to choose the control setup that best suits their preferences and riding style.
The boom provides unrestricted hand positioning along the grip area, while the handles offer more defined hand positions. Both options work with the same wing platform.
Wide Leading Edge Handle – control while surfing
The stiff and wide leading-edge handle makes one-handed control easier while surfing and flagging. It allows the rider to hold the wing comfortably in a neutral position while using the energy of the wave or swell.
New Window Layout – improved visibility
The updated window layout improves visibility and awareness on the water without compromising canopy tension or the wing’s overall performance.
Better visibility makes it easier to monitor other water users and surrounding conditions during maneuvers and higher-speed riding.
