The Downwinder Slim D/LAB is designed for riders focused on early lift-off and efficient acceleration during paddle starts. It delivers the responsiveness and pumping feel of a much smaller board thanks to its ultra-low swing weight, while still maintaining the volume and buoyancy needed for stable take-offs in open-water downwind conditions.

Hollow Shell Composite - lighter and stiffer

The Hollow Shell Composite (SCC) construction is the key element of this model. The board is nearly 30% lighter than SLS versions - approximately 1.6 kg less - resulting in faster acceleration, improved paddle speed and a more direct response when pumping. Reduced overall weight significantly enhances the board’s dynamic feel on foil.

Shape optimized for early take-off

The slim, narrow outline promotes quick acceleration and smooth water release. A carefully tuned tail rocker supports effortless take-offs and improves clearance while pumping. The clean monoconcave bottom maintains glide and allows the board to recover quickly and smoothly after touch-downs.

Long carbon foil tracks for maximum adjustability

Extended Carbon tracks provide a wide trimming range, making it easy to fine-tune foil position for different foil types and riding styles - whether you prioritize earliest lift-off or more neutral, balanced glide.

Ventilation and maintenance

An enlarged air vent combined with a drain plug allows safe pressure release when the board is not in use, helping to maintain optimal structural integrity over time.
