In 2016 Gaastra enjoyed its greatest success in the PWA slalom competitions. For the first time Ross Williams won his place on the podium in the final PWA slalom ranking and Taty Frans came in high sixth position. Both were using the GA Sails Vapor.

For the 2017 season Gaastra’s racing machine become even more efficient! One of the main changes is even better low end power. All sizes has been divided into 3 groups: two largest sizes: 9.3 and 9.6 represent more light wind characteristics, middle sizes 7.1, 7.9 and 8.6 are more universal, and smaller ones like 6.4, 5.8 and 5.4 are definitely aimed at stronger winds.
In terms of design the 2017 Vapor is divided into two groups: first are the two largest sizes using a redesigned foot geometry and lack of cross batten arranging. All other smaller sizes feature the Cross Batten system. In the whole range the 2017 Vapor uses a wider mast pocket that significant improves power of the sail. The width of the mast pocket proportionally decreases as the sail size gets smaller.

To take advantage of the slightest pice of wind energy the 2017 Vapor has more effi-cient leech twist. Also the cambers has been improved, rotation of the sail is much smoother now as well as acceleration after the jibe! The top four batten pockets are better integrated with the panel for a more symmetric, more efficient, direct and lighter construction.

Simple layout with fewer panels and less seams dramatically reduced the total weight of the sail.
