The Loftsails Switchblade is a 3-cam high-performance freerace sail. It is the easiest-to-use camber-inducted sail on the market. Made famous by its energy-efficient "flexibility", the 2016 Switchblade once again proved its leading in the freerace class by winning the prestigious Coupe de Coeur title in the Planche Mag test. With its cam-stability and easy to obtain high performance the Switchblade is a real threat to the competitive slalom sails. Furthermore it is even registered by the PWA. Many lighter riders and windsurfers racing in national regattas choose this model, preferring to be able to focus more on racing than handling the sail.
Awarded for the widest wind range in its class the Loftsails Switchblade can transform itself from a low-end power generator to the real racing machine in stronger winds. All thanks to the large range of settings that can be adjusted mainly by pulling the downhaul. Using the improvements made in the speed and racing line of Monty Spindler sails, the 2017 Switchblade received new materials and a completely redesigned profile which resulted in significantly more efficient response to trim changes.

• Metallic cam interfaces – MCIs eliminate contact point degradation characteristic of cam designs without MCIs
• Centered battens in X-Ply sleeves. (Alternate pocket sides) – Using similar material for the batten pocket as the body material minimizes asymmetric character of Dacron batten pocket construction that, due to Dacron stretch, allows the batten to stay on the sail side. Pockets made with laminate pockets force the batten to stay centered. This is important to keep the sail symmetrical. If all batten pockets are Dacron, and mounted on the same side of the sail, the sail will want to stay on one tack more than the other, rotate to one side easier than rotation to the other side. Loftsails X-Ply batten pockets that alternate sides limit asymmetric character.
